At the end of the 08/09 season hopes were high, we had just gained promotion as FC Clacton A and were looking forward to next season. Then in June rumours became rife that the management at Fc Clacton were looking to change the structure of their teams, and one of those changes would involve the A Team becoming more of a feeder team to the first and reserve teams, which we had no problem with. However it then emerged that only players under the age of 25 would be considered to play for the A Team. This would have left more than half the squad out in the cold, and this included the manager, asst manager, and several other key players.

So Matt and Glenn decided that their only option was to form a new team and so was born Sporting Rebels FC. They worked their nuts off to form the club in a week, coming up with a name, kit, crest, code of conduct, satisfying the F.A.s every requirement etc etc. They gave oppurtunity to the existing team to stay together, but also respected the decisions of others to depart. Sponsorship has been secured to ensure the teams status for the coming season and hopefully beyond

Now we look forward to the new not in a division above but one below, but with our own team, with no body to play for but each other.
